Mornington Peninsula Future Farmers Pathway Program

We are working with other local farms and the Mornington Peninsula Shire to build the next generation of small-scale farmers on Mornington Peninsula land. Seed funding for this program was made possible by Agriculture Victoria. Since September 2023, four interns have participated in our pilot program under the guidance of our market garden lead, Claire Barnes. The Mornington Peninsula is one of Melbourne's most important food bowls. Prime agricultural land on the Peninsula is abundant, but increasingly hard to access. This Program creates a pathway for new farmers to have opportunities to access land and learn sustainable farming practices.

We are now calling for Expressions of Interest for the Future Farmers Pathway Summer Market Gardening Training Program. Starting in late October 2024, this three month summer market gardening learning opportunity will take place on Wednesday and Thursday mornings at Torello Farm with the chance to also visit, learn and network with other local market gardening and farming enterprises throughout the Program.

Interested applicants can download the Expression of Interest form here. Applications and futher enquiries should be sent to agrofood@mornpen.vic.gov.au by 21 October 2024.
